About
Shauna
It is my greatest honour and pure joy to offer spaces for people to move and express themselves. I deeply trust in the power and potency between body and beat. The universality of dance, and each person’s unique expression in the dance, has the capacity to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
Our bodies in motion create magic and medicine.
After two decades of bringing people together, my enchantment for each opportunity remains as fresh as ever. I weave my love of music, movement, and nature into creative, reflective, and collective practices - that become powerful paths to self-awareness, embodiment, and belonging. Every time I gather with others, I witness humanity in motion, our joy and our grief intertwined, hand in hand, moving through each layer of what it means to be fully human.
Our bodies hold our life's experiences, our unique expressions can be a way to navigate and understand the wholeness of our being.
MORE ABOUT ME
I am an Embodiment Facilitator and DJ, devoted to creating spaces for people to experience themselves through movement and the intelligence of the body.
Trained by Gabrielle Roth in the 5Rhythms® movement practice, I have been immersed in the world of conscious dance for more than two decades. I offer 5Rhythms classes, workshops, and retreats, weaving movement, music and embodied awareness into spaces that invite curiosity and connection. I am also a resident DJ with Dance Temple International, where I bring my deep love of music and its capacity to move people: physically, emotionally and collectively.
Alongside my work in these communities, I have extensive experience creating and facilitating movement programs and in diverse community and outreach settings. As the founder of Dance Your Ability Therapeutic Movement Foundation, I have developed and delivered inclusive dance experiences for people of many ages, abilities and life circumstances, including communities that have traditionally had limited access to dance.
My work is rooted in the belief that every body holds a unique dance - and that when we are invited to dance as only we can, and move together, something powerful and unifying emerges.
I feel so deeply blessed to be in a loving partnership and to be a parent/step parent to 5 amazing humans ages 18-27. My path has included work in outdoor winter recreation, service, tourism, fibre and textiles, and over a decade immersed in the music and dance of the Dominican Republic.
I am a devotee of nature, attuned to seasonal and lunar cycles, practical magic, and family, all of which continue to shape my inclusive approach to this work.

"She is such a blessing to all of us and I cannot recommend her enough.
Shauna has been gracious enough to host a 5Rhythms class for women who have suffered sexual violence, and I have to say that although it is heartbreaking to see so many women in the same room with such heartache and grief... She has found a way to make all of our hearts sing and to lift us up in dance and connection."

"With Shauna's guidance and selection of great music, I explored the untamed and wild woman within me and she was happy!
I noticed during Untamed Body and Mind I was still often in my head. During the Untamed Soul day, my soul finally danced freely. The sharing circles were fulfilling, reflection time much appreciated. Thank you for everything Shauna!
