Coaching, Mentoring & Guiding
Our bodies hold our life's experiences & intuitive wisdoms. |
Individual Embodiment Coaching and Guiding sessions provide a nurturing and often magical environment where the body can express its innate wisdom with the support of movement, music, witnessing and intention. They are tailored, creative journeys that foster a dialogue with the body, intuition and are held in kindness. I work with you through your bodies response to personal inquiry, intentions, curiosity, invitations, movement and music.
In an Embodiment Coaching session, we will use dance & music as a means to enter into the body, grounding in your ability to be embodied and embrace the wisdom of that embodiment. We will work on an issue that you are curious about and want to explore. These sessions are a co-creation, I hold and stay present, while you practice agency & personal inquiry at a pace that both challenges and remains kind. A combination of movement, inquiry and exploration with and without music.

Embodiment coaching is a form of coaching that focuses on integrating mind, body, and spirit to foster personal growth and development. It emphasizes the connection between physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. The goal of embodiment coaching is to help individuals become more aware of their bodily sensations and patterns, understand the impact of these sensations on their thoughts and emotions, and ultimately, achieve greater alignment and authenticity in their lives.
Key aspects of embodiment coaching may include practices such as mindfulness, somatic awareness (awareness of bodily sensations), movement techniques (such as yoga or dance), breathwork, and other methods that encourage clients to fully inhabit their bodies and engage more fully with their experiences. This approach acknowledges that the body holds valuable wisdom and can serve as a powerful resource for personal transformation and healing.
In a Guiding session, you will be held in a container with the Mystery. We will use your inquiry, guides and intuition along with my Tarot deck (optional), intuition, nature, the Moon, dance, meditation, writing and ritual. We will dive into a question, an inquiry, a decision you are struggling with or as a space to be with mystery, co-creating magic, allowing what needs to be revealed.
Mentoring sessions can include: Music & Set Curation (Djing 101 - Djay Pro, library organization - itunes & Spotify), basic music theory, Outreach Facilitation Support, Promotions and anything within the Conscious and Ecstatic Dance world. Bring me your questions! After a life time of working with people and 20 years experience in the ever expanding world of dance, I feel a deep desire to support folks who are drawn to or are already holding spaces for people to move and express themselves.

Loneliness
I too have known loneliness.
I too have known what it is to feel
misunderstood,
rejected, and suddenly
not at all beautiful.
Oh, mother earth,
your comfort is great, your arms never withhold.
It has saved my life to know this.
Your rivers flowing, your roses opening in the morning.
Oh, motions of tenderness!
Poem written by Mary Oliver
“Three Things to Remember
As long as you’re dancing, you can
break the rules.
Sometimes breaking the rules is just
extending the rules.
Sometimes there are no rules.”
― Mary Oliver
Using dance as a way to navigate grief can be a powerful and cathartic experience. Here are some ways to incorporate dance into your grieving process:
"Dance as medicine" beautifully encapsulates the therapeutic power of movement. Dancing isn't just about physical activity; it's a form of expression that engages the mind, body, and soul. Here's how dance serves as medicine:
Using dance to cast spells is a concept often explored in various forms of fiction, mythology, and folklore. While it may not have empirical evidence in reality, the idea taps into the symbolic power of movement, intention, and ritual. Here's a fictional exploration of how dance could be used to cast spells:
- Expressive Movement: Allow yourself to move freely and expressively to music that resonates with your emotions. Use your body to convey the feelings of grief, whether it's through slow, flowing movements or sharp, energetic gestures. Let go of any self-consciousness and focus on expressing what you're feeling in the moment.
- Create Rituals: Develop dance rituals or routines that honor your loved one's memory. This could involve dancing to their favorite songs, choreographing a piece that reflects your relationship with them, or dedicating a dance performance to them. Rituals can provide a sense of structure and meaning to your grieving process.
- Dance Therapy: Consider participating in dance therapy sessions, either individually or in a group setting. Dance therapists are trained to help individuals explore and process their emotions through movement. Through guided exercises and improvisation, you can uncover and work through the deeper layers of your grief in a supportive environment.
- Join a Dance Community: Engage with a dance community or group that provides a supportive and understanding space for individuals dealing with grief. Whether it's a formal dance class, a social dance event, or an online community, connecting with others who share your passion for dance can offer a sense of belonging and camaraderie during difficult times.
- Mindful Movement: Practice mindful movement techniques such as tai chi, qigong, or yoga to cultivate awareness of your body and breath. These practices can help you ground yourself in the present moment and find moments of peace and stillness amidst the turmoil of grief.
- Celebrate Life: Use dance as a way to celebrate the life and legacy of your loved one. Organize a memorial dance performance or host a dance party in their honor. Invite friends and family to join you in commemorating their memory through movement and music.
- Journaling and Reflection: Pair dance with journaling or reflection to deepen your understanding of your grief journey. Before or after dancing, take some time to write about your thoughts and feelings, noticing any insights or shifts that arise through the movement.
"Dance as medicine" beautifully encapsulates the therapeutic power of movement. Dancing isn't just about physical activity; it's a form of expression that engages the mind, body, and soul. Here's how dance serves as medicine:
- Physical Benefits: Dance is a fantastic cardiovascular workout. It improves flexibility, strength, endurance, and overall physical fitness. Regular dancing can also help in weight management and reducing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
- Mental Health: Dancing releases endorphins, the body's natural mood lifters, which can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. The focus required for learning and mastering dance moves can also distract from negative thoughts and promote mindfulness.
- Emotional Release: Dance allows for the expression of emotions that may be difficult to verbalize. It provides a safe space to release pent-up feelings, whether it's joy, sadness, anger, or frustration. Moving to music can be cathartic and healing.
- Social Connection: Dancing often involves social interaction, whether it's partnering up for ballroom dancing, joining a group class, or participating in cultural dances. This fosters a sense of belonging and strengthens social bonds, which are crucial for mental well-being.
- Cognitive Benefits: Learning choreography and mastering dance techniques stimulate cognitive function and improve memory, coordination, and spatial awareness. This is particularly beneficial for older adults in preserving brain health and preventing cognitive decline.
- Self-Expression: Dance provides a non-verbal form of communication, allowing individuals to express their unique identities, cultures, and stories through movement. It promotes self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
Using dance to cast spells is a concept often explored in various forms of fiction, mythology, and folklore. While it may not have empirical evidence in reality, the idea taps into the symbolic power of movement, intention, and ritual. Here's a fictional exploration of how dance could be used to cast spells:
- Intention and Focus: In this concept, dancers would first set their intention clearly in their minds, visualizing the desired outcome of the spell they wish to cast. This could be anything from attracting love, prosperity, protection, or healing, depending on the tradition or personal belief system.
- Choreography as Incantation: Each movement in the dance would represent a specific element of the spell. For example, gestures could mimic the drawing of symbols in the air, invoking the elements, or weaving energy. The choreography would be carefully designed to flow seamlessly from one movement to the next, creating a powerful and coherent magical "incantation."
- Connection with Elemental Energies: Dance could be used to connect with elemental energies, such as earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. Movements might embody the fluidity of water, the strength of earth, the passion of fire, the freedom of air, and the transcendence of spirit, invoking these energies to empower the spell.
- Rhythm and Music: The rhythm and music accompanying the dance would play a crucial role in setting the mood and enhancing the magical atmosphere. Drumbeats, chants, or instrumental music with mystical tones could amplify the energy and focus of the dancers, aligning them with the vibrations of the universe.
- Group Synergy: Dancing in a group could amplify the magical energy, as each dancer contributes their intention and energy to the collective spell. The dancers would move in harmony, synchronizing their movements and intentions to create a unified and potent magical force.
- Visualization and Manifestation: As the dance progresses, dancers would visualize the desired outcome of the spell with unwavering focus and belief. They would project this intention outward, sending it into the universe to manifest in reality, trusting in the power of their combined effort and the inherent magic of the dance.
- Grounding and Closure: Once the dance is complete, dancers would ground themselves, bringing their energy back into their bodies and the physical world. They would offer gratitude to the elements, spirits, or deities invoked during the spellcasting, and release any attachment to the outcome, trusting in the divine timing and wisdom of the universe.
